Lovely Bones by Alicia Sebold By Tony George A book I didn't like to read is the "The Lovely Bones" by Alica Sebold on my mother's suggestion. It is about a young girl who is raped and murdered and watches over friends and family in spirit form. I thought the book was banal in concept and, frankly, bizarre in general. Several scenes were disturbing, not because of violence or sexuality but simply in concept. I just don't know what the author was thinking when she wrote the ending. What began as a somewhat uninteresting novel quickly became an unpleasantly memorable... well, freakshow. I honestly wish I could remove the memory of this awful story from my mind. Ironically enough, the nonfictional companion to "The Lovely Bones" (Alice Sebold's memoir "Lucky") was actually really good. I wish this author would produce more nonfiction.
