Salinger's Catcher in the Rye

Oh yeah, A book I didn't like reading is Salinger's Catcher in the Rye. I read it because it's generally represented as a modern classic. The book, as I'm sure you know, is about a rich whiny teenager. I didn't read it 'till I was in my mid 20's, so I guess it was too late for there to be any resonance. "for comparison" I read Maugham's The Razor's Edge when I was a teenager and it's still, though not my favorite read, perhaps the most important book of my life. I'm 44 now. |
