Seductive Poision by Deborah Layton

By Tony George

I Book I just recently finished reading Seductive Poision by Deborah Layton. This nonfiction piece is a firsthand account of her experiences with Rev. Jone and her life at Jonestown. It walks the reader through her conflicted and drug-abused childhood, her introduction to the Peoples Temple, her progress to a high position within the organization, and then her move to Jonestown in Guyana - where over 900 members died after drinking poison. I enjoyed that the piece was very well written and told an amazingly powerful story. Deborah herself was my favorite character, since she included her insight and recollections of her cognitive thought process throughout the book. I would definitely recommend this book, since it provides a unique and firsthand perspective on this sad part of history.
