Shopgirl by Steve Martin By Tony George A book I have recently read is called Shopgirl by Steve Martin. The story is about a young, mid-twenties girl who spends her days working in the glove department of a large store. She seems to have a pretty dull life, and the book eludes to her having some type of depression throughout. She meets a few men along the way, one a strange aloof young man, and another an older man who is well off. My favorite character was Jeremy, the strange air headed date that Mirabelle goes out with a few times. The genre of this book is fiction, romance and somewhat comedy. I would recommend this book. It was very different than I expected but I found myself wanting to know more. I would also recommend reading the book before seeing the movie, it makes it better in my opinion.
